Though in-person volunteer opportunities are paused, there are still ways you can help out our Market community!
Collection Drives for the Community
Help us ensure that the Market community continues to have the resources they need to live healthy and happily. We collect much-needed supplies all year around – see below on how you, your friends and colleagues, or your community/organization can come together throughout the year for the Market!
Hygiene Supplies: New and unused bathing and beauty supplies such as soap, face masks, hand sanitizer, shampoo/conditioner, wipes, toilet paper, combs/brushes. Please no used or opened items.
Winter Wear Drive: New and unused socks, hats, gloves, scarves, hand warmers, emergency blankets. Please no coats or used items.
Emergency Food Kits / No Cook Bags
Purchase items and assemble emergency food bags to be delivered to people at the food bank. These are intended to be easily carried to feed a person for a day or two – contents need to be non-perishable and no require a kitchen for prep. Our Ideal bag includes:
- Single pouch tuna or Peanut Butter
- Beef Jerky
- Train Mix or Nuts
- Dried Fruit or single serving apple sauce
- Ramen Noodles
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how to get yourself and your group started on compiling no-cook bags.
This year, we want to give our community greater freedom of choice and the ability to independently shop for their emerging needs. We’re asking primarily for donations of gift cards for groceries or home goods stores (Target, Safeway, Fred Meyers) in the $25 – $100 range. Another way to join the Giving Tree is by donating directly to the Market Foundation so we can purchase and provide these gift cards to community members.
If you’re interested in joining The Giving Tree, please email us today at email@example.com
Digital Volunteer Needs
Google Ads Help: We’re looking for help with our SEO presence for the Pike Place Market Foundation website and social media channels. We’re especially in need of anyone experienced with Google Ads and Google Analytics software. If you’re a whiz with SEO and Google products, we would love your help! This would be a volunteer opportunity that would only take a couple of hours a week at most.
Interested? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about being involved.
Social Media Ambassador: We need your help to bolster our social media presence and spread the word on the Market Foundation’s mission.
Follow the Pike Place Market Foundation on one or all of our social media platforms. Then like, share and comment on our posts to help spread the word and raise awareness! Share your own story about why you love the Market and give back to the Market Foundation for added impact.
Interested in getting your whole team involved? Contact us about ways to engage further.
Data Entry: A healthy database is a good database. Our staff could use assistance with data entry needs such as address updates, contact changes, profile building, and cleaning data for reporting and solicitation purposes. Help us streamline our processes, develop enhanced and personalized solicitations/communications and build stronger relationships.
Training will be provided! Email Jenn at email@example.com with interest.
Website Design: Our partners at the Pike Market Childcare and Preschool could use help in updating their website. They are open to updating what they have, but ideally they need a new platform that allows them to better recruit and fundraise.
This would be a fairly independent project and we would connect you to the preschool staff to discuss needs and coordinate the timeline.
