Month of Gratitude, Day 16: AmeriCorps Vistas, Bringing Innovation and Kindness to the Market Community

This week we welcomed a new class of AmeriCorps VISTAs and said goodbye to those whose year has come to an end. It’s a bittersweet moment – we love meeting new team members, but we also miss those who contributed so much to the Market community! Today we said goodbye to Allie Wass (pictured left), who was a beloved AmeriCorps VISTA of The Market Commons for the past year.

Americorps VISTAs are vital to our mission. With their help social services like The Market Commons, Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank, and Pike Market Child Care and Preschool receive extra support, collaboration and innovation from young do-gooders who volunteer to work with us via AmeriCorps. These volunteers are not only some of the hardest workers you’ll meet, but also the kindest; they get to know our community members and forge close relationships with them in their short time at Pike Place Market.

“I’m so grateful for all the relationships built over the past year and having the opportunity to get to know the fabulous people who make up the Market community,” said Allie. “It’s such a unique and welcoming community that I’ll never forget.”

AmeriCorps VISTAs may only have a 1-year tenure, but they remain part of our Market community for life. We are so GRATEFUL to have them here on our team!
