Mike Osborn, Community Builder and Market Legend
Mike Osborn has gotten to know the Market very well in his more than 45 years of working here. As co-owner of Sosio’s Produce, he’s hard at work every day selling fresh produce and running the shop. But it’s not profit that drives Mike – it’s the community he’s built.
“Watching the customers who watched my daughter grow up, it shows me how much we’re all just a big family,” said Mike.
The regular customers of Sosio’s have known Mike and his family for decades and look forward to catching up with each other every time they shop.
Mike is also known for his dedicated generosity in the Market community. Every day he donates boxes of slightly imperfect produce to the Pike Market Food Bank and is an avid promoter of our Pike Bucks Program, allowing low-income shoppers to double their dollars on Market fruits and veggies.
Mike also makes a huge impact on our Food Access Program, helping our low-income neighbors shop for fresh fruits and vegetables. Last year, vendors like Sosio’s led to 5,115 shopping trips with $214,000 spent on fresh produce.
