With the cost of living at an all-time high in Seattle, the Pike Place Market Foundation operates and sustains a critical network of services to meet the needs of our neighbors living paycheck-to-paycheck or on fixed or low incomes.
Our approach to helping neighbors find economic stability begins with building trusted relationships with our staff at The Market Commons. Our resource specialists help people discover and navigate the supports available to help community members find the stability they need to thrive.
Our programs and partners help community members reduce the cost of living to find economic stability:
-
Pike Market Child Care & Preschool offers tuition assistance
-
Food Access Programs help shoppers on low incomes access fresh, healthy food at Pike Place Market
-
Neighborcare Health at Pike Place Market provides primary health services to patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay.
We also facilitate The Market Community Safety Net, a fund available to people working, living or accessing community services in Pike Place Market, who are facing a sudden financial crisis and need support to regain stability. In 2021, The Market Community Safety Net provided resources and emergency assistance to 127 people totaling $157,246 in funds.
Economic Stability is a key component in keeping communities healthy and stable.
