Planning Ahead – framed monotype by Kim Osgood
Kim Osgood – Planning Ahead
monotype, 22″ x 30 inches , framed to 29.25 x 37.25 inches
Kim Osgood is a Portland, Oregon based artist who reinvents the conventional still-life in her work by integrating the seasons‚ changing flora and fauna. Playful elements such as flitting birds and insects enliven her scenes as she brings the natural world indoors, her monotypes celebrating the abundance of life with energetic color and joyful depictions of her surroundings. “Planning Ahead” depicts figs, dahlias, feathers, berries, and an inquisitive black bird. Osgood uses a viscosity resist printmaking technique that results in a single, unique print and involves making a complete painting on a plexiglass plate before running the painted plexiglass through the printmaking press with paper.
