ABOUT
Unexpected Productions at The Market Theater
BIPOC-owned Business
Unexpected Productions (U.P.) is the first comedy improv company in the Pacific Northwest. Since 1991, we’ve been delighting audiences from all over the world with completely improvised theatre, and have taught hundreds of students through our world class Improv School. Fun fact: Our audiences started the now world famous Gum Wall in the mid-90s!
Before COVID-19, U.P. offered 11 shows per week, 20 different improv classes per quarter, and a variety of professional personalized workshops and shows. We are currently teaching improv online, live-streaming shows, and hope to return to in-person classes and shows when it’s safe to do so.
As the only non-profit theatre in Pike Place Market, we are proud to partner with the Pike Place Market Foundation. Each purchase helps keep our historic theatre alive in this time of need.
Market Location: Post alley at The Gum Wall (currently not open to public)
