Pike Place Market Foundation supports the heart of the Market – its people.

By helping our neighbors who work, learn and live in and around the Market, the Foundation’s mission is to nurture a thriving Market community.

Established in 1982, The Market Foundation has granted more than $40 million to provide housing, healthcare, healthy food, childcare and a community of support to our downtown and Market neighbors. Over the past 40 years, The Market Foundation has contributed to a neighborhood model that allows a diverse community to live and thrive here at Pike Place Market.

We are guided by the following values: collaboration, inclusion, respect, optimism and gratitude.

40 years of Market Foundation History

This year, the Market Foundation is celebrating four decades of community! As we recognize the incredible milestone of $40 million invested in the Market over 40 years, we’re looking back on our history and honoring the staff, service partners, volunteers and supporters who have helped nurture a thriving community at Pike Place Market. Check out our series of Anniversary stories below, focused on the evolution of the Foundation, our investments in social services, heritage and preservation efforts, and affordable housing.
