Kathy Henning brings HEART to Pike Place Market! A craftsperson since 1986, Kathy produces the Market Community Talent Show and volunteers at Market Foundation events – all to raise funds for the Community Safety Net. A community organizer at heart, catch Kathy singing Market-inspired holiday songs at the Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition – on Friday, Dec 1st!
When John Bates and his wife moved downtown and became neighbors to the Market, John asked how he could help. He believes that philanthropy is not just financial, it’s also getting involved.
In 2014, he started engaging his friends and neighbors to get involved in the Pike Up! Campaign to build the new MarketFront. He even took the Pike Up! Flag up to the snowy peaks of Bhutan and snapped a photo to share with the world.
Now John is a board member of the Market Foundation and enjoys connecting with Market merchants about the many ways to support the Foundation. In the photo above, John is delivering a donation check from a produce stand in the Market to the Market Foundation – appropriately, the check came packaged in a brown paper bag!
Sheila Roehm has been a longtime volunteer for the Market Foundation, volunteering for our events as well as being an awesome office volunteer who enjoys helping the Market Foundation staff weekly. We are grateful for her help and her yummy recipe ideas!
