Access to fresh, affordable produce is rooted in the history of Pike Place Market, and is essential to the health of our community. The pandemic presented new challenges for the Market’s residents, workers and neighbors living on low incomes to access the food they needed: as food insecurity in Washington has increased by 17% since the beginning of the pandemic. Through the Food Access Program at The Market Commons, we help minimize barriers and alleviate food insecurity for the Market community through shopping programs, education, and the Secret Garden.
We are grateful to our partners like Delta Air Lines and JPMorgan Chase & Co, who support our various food access programs throughout the year. Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, and donors who help make this work possible!
