We are so excited to introduce a Night Market to this year’s Arcade Lights! That’s right, this year ten Pike Place Market artisans will be joining us in the Arcade for an awesome night of fun. You will be able to shop the best the Market has to offer while nibbling sweet and savory bites and sipping a cocktail. Doesn’t get much better than that. Hi! I’m Twyla, the hands and heart behind Twyla Dill Design. I started making jewelry to bring something different to the market. My jewelry combines hand fabricated metal with crocheted lace – for an aesthetic you won’t find anywhere else. Plus, it’s all made by me in Seattle, WA!
Five years ago, in Istanbul, Turkey, my friends mom sat me down in her living room with an old T-shirt and a crochet hook so small I could hardly see the tip. Over the next hour she taught me the basics of lace crochet, called ‘oya’ in Turkish; a lace traditionally crocheted on the edge of headscarves.
That was enough to hook me (no pun intended) and I’ve been making lace ever since. Jewelry is the perfect way to share this beautiful art with as many people as possible.
