Happy 34th Birthday, Pike Market Preschool!

Posted October 28, 2016

Each year The Market Foundation grants funds to the Preschool that provide tuition assistance for families of the lowest incomes. This year, donors like you helped us grant $200,000 which provides tuition assistance for 54 families.

In honor of the Preschool’s 34th birthday, Executive Director Ilene Stark reflects on the Preschool’s collective impact on children and families in our community.

“Dear Supporters,

This month, Pike Market Childcare & Preschool celebrates its 34th birthday. Thank you for being part of this amazing journey.

Many things have changed since opened our doors to the Pike Place Market community in 1982. As Seattle grows, so has the Market and Preschool right along with it.  Today, we serve children from 4 months to pre-K. Olivia, pictured, was one of our very first babies in the Sweet Pea classroom, which opened in 2014. Two years later, she is a happy and inquisitive toddler, learning alongside her Moonbeam classmates.

But amidst all of this change, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to serving families of all income levels. Founded on the idea that all children deserve access to high quality early learning and care, the Preschool provides tuition assistance to over 70% of our enrolled families.

We hope you’ll consider making a gift in honor of the Preschool’s birthday this month. With your help, we’ll continue to offer financial help to those who need it. And we can’t imagine a better birthday gift than that.

In gratitude,

Ilene Executive Director
