Market Tastes New and Old at Sunset Supper 2021

Posted August 9, 2021

While businesses at Pike Place Market experienced incredible losses during the pandemic, it doesn’t stop their determination to celebrate and support the Market community at Sunset Supper. Businesses new and old are getting creative to bring you THE Party of the Summer:

One Sunset Supper vendor is so brand new to Pike Place Market, they’re currently building out their store for a grand opening! Maíz is an upcoming antojito & tortillería coming to 1914 Pike Place (formerly home to The Mexican Grocery). Their team of nixtamal artisans focuses on Mexican native criollo corn tortillas and products, as well as the production of small batch, Non-GMO, stoneground masa for tortillas. Sunset Supper guests will be the first to try their chicken and portobello mole on top of handmade tortillas!
We are so excited to welcome Maíz to the Market community, current opening plans are for September – stay tuned!

Right next door to Maíz’s new storefront is an iconic Seattle business all too familiar to Market visitors – the original Starbucks. Established in 1971 as the first Starbucks store, this downtown attraction is a favorite of tourists who gather in a line stretching down the street in hopes of peeking inside. Lucky for you, the store will be open to Sunset Supper guests during the event, stop by to enjoy piping hot or ice cold drinks – without the long line! Starbucks Coffee Company was our first community partner at Sunset Supper in 1995, and we are grateful for their continued support 25 Sunset Suppers later!

They’re also fueling our staff and volunteer crew by donating food and drinks to the event. Thank you, Starbucks!
